I am originally from Germany, where I trained at Goldschmiedeschule Pforzheim and received meticulous training in all goldsmithing techniques as well as jewellery design.
Near my hometown, in beautiful Heidelberg, I honed my skills as a master goldsmith and jewellery designer.
Eventually I followed my musician boyfriend to London, where I set up my studio in the midst of this bustling metropolis.
My collections are mainly one-off pieces with highly structured, embossed metal work in pure 24ct gold or silver. I love pure gold for it's unique depth of colour, malleability and significance throughout history.
With my backgound in gemmology I favour gemstones that are not commonly used, such as acid green Uvarovite, a rare variety of Garnet, or crystallized
Cobalto Calcite with a colour range from deep magenta to hot pink.
Recently I have experimented with straw, an unconventional material in jewellery. This body of work is inspired by the Brothers Grimm folktale Rumpelstizkin.
The resulting piece is the bangle Karfunkel.
Every piece is made entirely by hand in my studio in London. Quality, great attention to detail, creativity and wearability are of the utmost importance in every design.
For commissions I work in close contact with the client at every step - from initial ideas to the finished item - to create with them jewellery that reflects their style, personality and their individual story.
My clients and jewellery lovers all own a truly unique piece of jewellery.
My beautiful suit was created by bespoke tailoring house Sanne Savile Row, who look after all my sartorial needs.
For the last 25 years I have been a member of the Designer Jewellers Group and have exhibited my work annually at the Barbican Centre London.
Apart from exhibiting in specialist galleries my work has been shown and Libertys and Goldsmiths' Hall.
I am a member of the selective Goldsmiths' Hall directory Who's Who In Gold and Silver.
Rekindling my lifelong love of history I have joined the Society of Jewellery Historians.
Beyond the boundaries of jewellery I have collaborated with textile designer Jo Dawn.
